For its 80th anniversary and the 40th year of its Amsterdam - Hong Kong route, Cathay Pacific wanted to create something meaningful: a gift that honours it's 80 years of history, and the 40 years-long partnership between the Netherlands and Hong Kong. That’s why they partnered with The Dutch Tile Project: to create a design where heritage and connection come together.

We designed a fully personalised ceramic tile that visually unites Cathay’s 80-year legacy with its 40-year connection to Amsterdam:a recognisable symbol of the airline’s rich history and enduring relationship with the Netherlands. A total of 120 tiles were produced, each a unique keepsake for their European celebration conference participants.

The result? A stylish, thoughtful gift that not only marks two major milestones but also strengthens the bond between Cathay Airways, its partners, and its people.

“The project creates a powerful link between Cathay’s 40 years anniversary in Amsterdam and Cathay's 80th birthday, and the involvement of each attendee at our EUR conference. By seamlessly integrating these elements, the project delivers an experience that is both unified and truly memorable for every participant. In the end, it serves as a treasured keepsake, rekindling warm memories and a sense of camaraderie among colleagues well after the event has come to an end.”
