If there's one thing we've learned over the past few years, it's that no two customers are the same, but somehow everyone ends up asking the same questions. 😉
Every day we hear from gift shoppers, interior lovers, businesses and people creating something completely personal. And yes, our small team still replies to every message ourselves.
So without further ado, here are the five questions we get asked most often:
1. How long will it take to receive my order?
Every tile is made especially for you. We don't keep shelves full of finished products waiting for someone to order them. Your tile only goes into production once your order has been placed.
Production usually takes 3 to 5 working days, after which your order is shipped.
Delivery times depend on where you live. Most European orders arrive within a few working days after dispatch, while international deliveries naturally take a little longer.
Need your order for a birthday, wedding or another special occasion? Feel free to send us a message before ordering. We'll always see what's possible.
For the most up to date delivery estimates for your country, you can always check our Delivery Times FAQ.
2. How can I display or hang my tile?
Good news! You have options:
If you'd like to display your tile on a shelf, desk or mantelpiece, our tile stands are made exactly for that.
Prefer to hang it on the wall? We also offer self adhesive tile hangers that are incredibly easy to attach. No drilling into your beautiful tile required.
And if you've been waiting for our premium wooden frames: they're making their way to our shop! At the moment, customers within Europe can already join the waitlist and be the first to know once they're available. We'll be expanding to more countries as soon as possible.
3. Can I use the tiles in my bathroom or kitchen?
Yes! Our tiles are fully water resistant and are perfectly suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and other humid spaces.
The reason is simple: we don't print the design on top of the tile.
Instead, every tile is created using a sublimation process, where the artwork becomes part of the ceramic itself through heat and pressure. This means the design won't peel, chip or fade when exposed to moisture, unlike many UV printed tiles where the design sits on the surface.
That said, our tiles are designed as decorative pieces rather than construction materials. If you choose to install them permanently in a tiled wall, we recommend using non sanded grout to help avoid scratching the surface during installation.
4. What happens if my order arrives damaged or goes missing?
Thankfully it doesn't happen very often, but shipping companies are still run by humans and humans occasionally have bad days.
If your tile arrives damaged, simply send us a photo per email or via our contact form and we'll work with you to find the best solution.
Missing an item? Let us know and we'll sort it out as quickly as possible.
If your tracking says your parcel has already been delivered but you can't find it yet, don't panic straight away. Carriers sometimes mark parcels as delivered slightly before they actually arrive, so it's worth waiting another day or two before assuming it's gone missing.
And if it still doesn't show up? Just get in touch. We'll help you figure it out.
5. Can I turn my own photo into a Delft Blue tile?
Yes! That's exactly what our personalised tiles are made for.
Simply upload your favourite photo, whether it's your pet, your family, your home, a wedding photo or another special memory, and our Delftify tool transforms it into a beautiful modern Delft Blue design.
Before placing your order, you'll receive several different design options to choose from. Not completely in love with one yet? No problem. You can generate as many new variations as you'd like until you find the perfect design.
Every personalised tile is made especially for you, making every single one truly unique.
Bonus: Why are The Dutch Tile Project tiles different?
If you've been browsing online, you may have noticed that there are quite a few modern Delft Blue tiles available these days.
That's because The Dutch Tile Project introduced the modern Delft Blue tile back in 2023, becoming the original brand in this category. Since then, several similar products have appeared, but we're proud to have pioneered this new take on a Dutch classic.
What also makes our tiles different is how they're produced. We use sublimation printing, which permanently embeds the artwork into the ceramic instead of printing it on top of the surface. This allows us to create highly detailed, photorealistic designs that won't peel, chip or fade over time.
Whether you're ordering a single personalised gift or hundreds of tiles for a business project, every tile is produced with the same attention to detail and consistent quality.
