Illustration of an offshore 2GW platform with surrounding wind turbines, symbolizing TenneT’s role in the Dutch energy transition.

When TenneT joined a Dutch trade mission to Japan, they were looking for a symbolic gift that represented both their identity and the significance of the economic mission. With only three weeks from the initial conversations to final delivery, we developed a fully customised design and complete presentation.

The ceramic tiles featured a bespoke illustration of an offshore 2GW platform with windmills—an iconic reference to TenneT’s pioneering role in the energy transition. Each tile was delivered in a premium gift box with a custom sleeve, and included a wooden stand so the recipient could display it in a meaningful place.

The result was a professional courtesy gift that reflected Dutch craftsmanship and TenneT’s contribution to the global energy transition. It underscored the importance of cultural exchange and economic collaboration—key elements of the mission, especially given the responsibility to spend public funds in a way that creates clear value.

"Japan is a country where customs and norms demand special attention. That is why we selected a classically Dutch gift-something that would resonate with important stakeholders across Southeast Asia. The result was perfect, and our stakeholders were very appreciative and touched by the gesture. Long-term relationships are of the upmost importance in Japan."
